SUMMERVILLE HIGH TO GRADUATE FOURTEEN

“Commencement exercises will be held Friday evening, May 31, at 8 o’clock in the Summerville Union High School Auditorium for the senior graduating class.

 

“Nine boys and five girls will receive their diplomas from W.H. Fiske, clerk of the Board of Education.

 

“Graduates include: Theo ‘Sonnie’ Adkins, Rita Malgesini, Leon “Red’ Bowlsby, Alvina Day Kester, Herman Gold, Cora Mae Graham Starkweather, Blake Elliott, Avonell Sloniker, Ernest Muller, Patricia Ferreira, Richard Renslow, Richard Scott, Robert Cole and James Hill.  Bob Cole, Dick Scott and Rita Malgesini have earned life membership awards, having been on our California Scholarship Federation at least six semesters.  Pat Ferriera , in spite of the fact that she has been confined in the hospital with a broken hip, has completed her work and will receive her diploma.  She will not be released from the hospital, however, for several weeks more.

 

Dr. J. Marc Jantzen, Dean of School of Education of College of Pacific, will deliver the address of the evening and Reverend Roland Stahl will give the Invocation and Benediction.

 

“The Valedictory will be given by Bob Cole and the Salutatory will be presented by Ernest Muller, Sonnie Adkins and the High School band under the direction of Alan Kirby.  The Class will be presented by Mr. Frank Balogh, Principal and President of the Board of Education.  Mr. Ernest H. Hodge, will make a few remarks to the graduates.”
