"Discover Tuolumne"
A Book of Original Sketches
Depicting the History of Tuolumne

“Discover Tuolumne” is a collection of 32 original black and white sketches that cover the history of Summersville, Carters and the Town of Tuolumne, beginning with the native Me-Wuk and featuring all the important events and institutions in Tuolumne. Each page is complete with an informational caption.

In addition to the Me-Wuk, the book has pages devoted to the 1849 gold rush, the Franklin Summers family arrival in the area, cattle ranching, dairy farming, Dr. Eugene H. Reid, who was the West Side Lumber Company's physician, and many other subjects. The book is arranged chronologically with a caption on each page, making it a “story book in art" of the history of Tuolumne, the town that had three names. The book is also suitable as a “coloring book” for children.

This magnificant book was inspired by a similar book completed in 1978 by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), covering all of Tuolumne County. This book, focusing just on the town of Tuolumne is a wonderful documentation of the town’s history as seen through the eyes of local artists.

Artists contributing to the publication of the "Discover Tuolumne" book were: Barbara Beaudreau, Diana Russell Boyd, Nancy Celentano, Barbara Conley, Sherie Drake, Diana Eppler, Jenny Feriani, Margo Flanagan, Beverley Hershey Flores, Michelle Fulcher, Mary Lou Gerber, Kathleen Flores Gold, John Hard, Leslie Hurst, Cheryl Kauppi, Louisa King, Eve Hill Pecchenino, Joyce Schoettgen, Joy Severin, Michael Severin, and Barbara Young.

"Discover Tuolumne" measures 11 x 14 inches and would make a wonderful gift for anyone's children or grandchildren. You will want to purchase one just for yourself to enjoy!

“Discover Tuolumne      Price reduced to $10, which includes sales tax.
